Intelligent system for semantic processing automatic summarization of legal information
Objective
This project will develop technology for the automated analysis of legal 
information. This technology will make it possible to improve to a significant degree the way in which research is carried out in banks of judgments published by legal information providers.
Deliverables
Deliverables will inlcude an advanced translation management platform (including a post-editing process of the automatic translation as required by the Federal Court). In addition to the Federal Court, services will be offered to the thirty administrative tribunals of Quebec that are also in need of legal translation services.
Technology & Benefits
The current translation engine can reduce the federal court’s translation costs by 25%. To be competitive with professional translation services NLP must develop an advanced translation management platform for post editing to minimise the cost of production and offer a reduction of 40% to 50% of federal court costs which would result in savings of $2.5 million dollars yearly for a term of 5 to 10 years. In addition to this cost reduction, the time necessary to produce the translation is greatly reduced with the automatic translation as well as the translator’s load of work.
